Guidelines

What events are considered for Greek Points?

  • All Greek Programming Board speakers or events that are sponsored by the Greek points are worth points. Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event.
  • Philanthropy events sponsored by UA sororities or fraternities are worth points as long the event is open to participation by all Panhellenic, IFC, NPHC, and UGC organizations. Additionally, an Event Approval Form must be turned in THREE WEEKS BEFORE (or 21 days) prior to the event (see below for details). Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in at the delegate meeting following the event. Alcohol may not be present at the event.
  • Any other philanthropic event for which an organization or department would like Greek Programming Board support will be considered for points as long the event is open to participation by all Panhellenic, IFC, NPHC, and UGC organizations. The sponsoring organization should submit an Event Approval Form THREE WEEKS BEFORE (or 21 days) prior to the event. Alcohol may not be present at the event.

How points are determined?

  • Points are based on attendance for Greek Point supported events. One point per person in attendance is the typical point system used. Attendance must be taken on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in by email by the first Sunday of each month.
  • If the event involves teams, it is at the discretion of the Greek Programming Board as to how points will be allocated. The points merited for the particular event will be determined based on the circumstances and requirements of the team event, and announced prior to the event at the delegate meeting. A record of participation must be kept on the Points Attendance Sheet and turned in by email by the first Sunday of each month.
  • If the event is an item drive, one point per item is the typical point system used. This is also at the discretion of the Greek Programming Board, and will announced to the chapter before the event once a point system has been deemed fair in regards to the circumstances of the drive (item price, degree of difficulty to collect item, etc.). A count must be kept of all items collected and turned in along with a total by email at the first Sunday of each month.

How to get an event approved for Greek Points?

  • In order to have a cause supported by the Greek Programming Board points system, an Event Approval Request Form must by completed and submitted to the Greek Programing Board at least three weeks before the event/fundraiser. This will allow time to determine if the cause fits the ideals of the Alabama Greek Programming Board and to disseminate all necessary information to the chapters. Please note that events must be open for participation to all Greek organizations for participation. Additionally, no events that include alcohol will be considered for Greek Points. You will be contacted within one week concerning your event’s approval.
  • Due to the high demand of events requested for points, the Board has decided to put a limit on the number of events per month that will be accepted for points. Once ten events have been approved for a particular month, only events directly sponsored by UA sororities or fraternities will be approved.
