Each year, the Fraternity and Sorority Community highlights and celebrates excellence amongst chapters and individual members through both the Greek Excellence Awards and Order of Omega Awards.
Held in the spring semester, this annual event provides the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life an opportunity to recognize and honor the achievements and efforts of our fraternities and sororities. The primary purpose of the Greek Excellence Program is to provide an objective appraisal of a chapter’s performance and to challenge each chapter to improve both programming and overall operations.
This year, the 2020 Greek Excellence Awards reception was reimagined to reflect the impact of COVID-19. Our office recognizes that 2020 had been a year unlike any other. Many of our organizations were unable to meet in person, much less host or attend events, and/or participate in philanthropy and service opportunities. For those organizations that were able to do things together as a chapter, it often looked very different than in past years, as we have all had to be flexible, adaptable, and creative. To showcase our many chapter and individual achievements, OFSL collected information regarding chapter accomplishments attained during the Spring and Fall 2020 semesters. During a YouTube LiveStream of the 2020 Greek Excellence Awards on February 26th, we took the time to honor Greek Chapters that continued to excel during that time by selecting and summarizing one accomplishment for each chapter that submitted a response. We also acknowledged the award recipients of each individual council.
