APA sororities traditionally admit new members in August through the Primary Recruitment process,  which occurs the week before the start of the fall semester. Fall Primary Recruitment at The University of Alabama is scheduled for Saturday, August 11 through Sundday, August 19, 2018. Online registration for 2018 Primary Recruitment officially closes on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 5 pm CST. Women interested in participating in Recruitment, can register online via the 2018 Sorority Recruitment Registration FormSome chapters also engage in a less formal recruitment process known as Continuous Open Bidding, or COB, in the fall and spring.

What are the requirements to become a member?

In order to be eligible to join an APA sorority through the Primary Recruitment process, participants must be a regularly enrolled full-time female student or plan to be a full-time student in good standing with The University of Alabama. Prospective new members should go online no later than July 16, 2018 and register to participate in Fall Primary Recruitment. A participation fee is required at the time of registration. Approximately 91 percent of individuals who participated in fall recruitment received a bid in 2017.

Although the Alabama Panhellenic Association does not require a specific GPA to participate in recruitment, each sorority chapter does have a minimum grade requirement for pledging and initiation. Therefore, it is highly recommended that all prospective members participating in recruitment have at or above a 3.2 cumulative high school or college GPA at the time of recruitment.
