UA’s fraternity and sorority community is the largest in the nation:

  • 71 Fraternity and Sorority Chapters
  • Around 12,000 students in the community
  • Four Greek Governing Councils:
    • Alabama Panhellenic Association (APA)
    • National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
    • Interfraternity Council (IFC)
    • United Greek Council (UGC)

Serving over a third of our students at the Capstone, Fraternity and Sorority Life seeks to cultivate leadership skills, engage with the campus and local Tuscaloosa community through service, and promote unity among members. Each year, fraternities and sororities set aside a time of mutual selection to meet students interested in joining a Greek-Letter organization. Students interested in joining a fraternity/sorority are encouraged to learn more about each council, its recruitment or intake process, and key dates. Please visit Financial Information for an overview of associated costs by council.
